Check out our natural building course gallery to get a sense of what you can expect when attending one of our CPD accredited courses.
These photos were taken during our CPD accredited natural building courses of 2017 facilitated by Peter McIntosh. The courses are designed to teach participants how earth works, allowing them to make an appropriate choice based on materials available to them on their own site. Materials and techniques covered included, mud brick, cob, light earth, rammed earth, compressed earth brick, rock, natural plasters, foundations, walls, openings, passive solar design, basic site layout and how to test your earths.
These pictures are from the October 2017 course, held at Jakkalskloof farm in Swellendam. Jakkalskloof is a biodynamic farm and training centre. The building is a small cottage above the main dam area. The design incorporated Compressed Earth Brick (CEB) stemwalls, earthen floor, cob and mudbrick walls and arch, pole and tin roof, glass bottles and reclaimed doors and windows.
The course was facilitated by Peter McIntosh and our course assistant was Andrew Mclachlan.
